There are more kinds of witches than there are colors of the rainbow! Some witches choose to honor gods and goddesses of the ancient worlds, while others celebrate the love in one Creator. The “masculine” and “feminine” energies of the gods and goddesses conjure the energy for witch magic. Most witches have a strong connection to the power of the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water.
The religion of Witchcraft, or similarly Wicca, is recognized by many state governments, the federal government, and the United States Armed Forces. The courts have recently have begun to acknowledge the right of prisoners to practice witchcraft just as any other religion. Some universities, schools, and employers are now recognizing wiccan holidays.
Witchcraft as a religion means something different to every witch. What does it mean to you?
